Year 3 Gets Creative with the Potato Olympics!
This Year 3 students saw all the fun the preps were having and joined the excitement of the Potato Olympics! From the art room to the sports field, every part of the curriculum came alive with spud-tacular fun.
In art, students designed shiny medals, while maths had them measuring the biggest splashes in the high dive, weighing blocks in the weightlifting competition, and calculating the distance of throws and rolls in the shot put and long-distance events. They sharpened their maths skills by adding up 2 and 3-digit numbers, tallying results, and even creating a graph to showcase their achievements.
Teamwork was the name of the game as students supported each other, cheered for their potato athletes, and celebrated each success. They also dove into the history of the Olympics, learning about the origins of this global event. To top it off, they wrote persuasive pieces on their favourite Potato Olympics event, showcasing their growing English skills.
The Potato Olympics was a golden opportunity for Year 3 to learn, laugh, and leap into learning in the most creative way possible!
Best Event at the Potato Olympics
By Christiano
Everyone knows that weightlifting is definitely the most exciting event at the Potato Olympics.
Firstly, weightlifting was so much fun. There would always be a lovely smile on your face since you were watching your friends worried face thinking that at any time the blocks would fall. It was really funny.
Secondly, weightlifting was really intense. You had to carefully balance each block on your potato. Also, the anticipation was high as you put the weights on the scale and checked how much your strong potato held. If you got a good score, your potato would be out there holding a medal.
Thirdly, the weightlifting had many benefits for your potato. Your potato would definitely become stronger and it would win any other competitions it competed in. Therefore, your potato would be a weightlifting champion! Can't you believe how proud your potato would be?
That is why weightlifting should obviously be the most exciting event at the great Potato Olympics!
Potato Olympics 2024

I definitely believe that shotput is my favourite event at the Potato Olympics.
Firstly, everyone got to throw it somewhere. There was no doubt on not getting to throw your potato less than a metre, which would make everyone proud of themselves. Unlike the high dive there was very low chance of getting a foul.
Secondly, lots of people were not bored watching everyone else have their turn because it was very interesting watching everyone else have their turn. In addition, lots of people beat others by very small amounts of centimetres, making the crowd roar with excitement.
Finally, everyone was showing good sportsmanship. Not one single person complained about anything, and barely anyone blamed someone else for doing a foul when they didn't.
Isn't it obvious that the best event in the Potato Olympics is shotput? Undoubtedly, it should be liked by everyone.
