With the commencement of a new term, all students are now back on Silver. Students once again have the opportunity to work their way back to GOLD by demonstrating 'GOLD' standard of behaviours.
This system is designed to acknowledge and reward students who are exemplary in their conduct at school whilst inspiring all children to develop the life-long skills of independence and self responsibility. Gold students are safe, responsible and respectful at all times and demonstrate the independence and initiative to maintain their outstanding behaviour without adult prompts or redirections.
As in previous terms, class teachers explicitly teach what it means to be a 'GOLD' student at Thornlands State School through our weekly Supportive School Environment and Social Skills lessons and all staff reinforce our school rules and expectations throughout the school day. This ensures students understand what behaviours they need to demonstrate to follow our school rules and also what it looks like to be a 'GOLD' student.
As parents and carers, you can support your child in this process by discussing the behaviour levels with them. We have included a copy of the 'student friendly' behaviour levels to assist you. Reinforcing your child's positive behaviour choices at home also assists with reinforcing expectations and further strengthens the vital connection between home and school values and behaviour expectations. It is important to note that SILVER is still great and maintaining a SILVER level of behaviour is something to be very proud of.
