At Thornlands State School our Year 5 and Year 6 students participate in Chinese language lessons . Students learn through participating in a wide range of engaging activities and have the opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and society. At the beginning of this term, our students learnt about traditional Chinese New Year celebrations and the cultural significance of this event . They learnt to sing a popular 'Happy New Year' song in Mandarin and made paper lanterns for 2021 celebrating Chinese New Year (the Year of the Ox). It has been great to see the students thoroughly engaged in these exciting learning experiences which enhance their language development and understanding of Chinese Culture.
