Leap into Prep Program
Thornlands State School recognises that school readiness has four interrelated components: children's readiness for school, school's readiness for children, and the capacity of families and communities to provide developmental opportunities for their young children, (EMIG et al, 2001).
Thornlands State School's 'Leap into Prep' program is designed to support pre-prep aged children and their families make a successful transition to school and to enhance the school's readiness for the children. The school has formed close community ties with local Early Childhood Education Centres and these centres work with the school to ensure the success of the program. In addition, The Thornlands State School 'Leap into Prep' program is designed to provide support to families by integrating parent information sessions into the program. These information sessions will assist parents to provide responsive care and appropriate learning experiences for their children.
LEAP INTO PREP runs from 9.15am to 10.45am beginning Thursday August 8, 2019 and continues every Thursday until Thursday September 12, 2019. The 'Leap into Prep' program is proven to be a highly successful transition program for Prep students.
