Prep 2024
We would like to welcome any new and existing families to our Prep for 2024.
Getting started
Children eligible for Prep in 2024 must be 5 by 30 June in the year they enrol.
To determine when your child can commence their prep year, use the
online calculator.
In catchment families
Families living within our School Catchment Zone (refer to the EQ Catchment Map) will be guaranteed an offer of Prep enrolment. In order to predict enrolment numbers for 2024 we ask that 'In Catchment' families complete the 2024 Prep Enrolment pack (see below) as soon as possible so we can allocate a place for your child. Once you have completed the enrolment pack and all relevant documents listed on the enrolment pack checklist, please submit the application to the school office where a member of the administration team will review the application and contact you to arrange an interview (see below for details).
Siblings: Younger siblings of children currently enrolled at Thornlands State School will also be offered a Prep place if residing in our catchment area. If residing 'Out of Catchment' the older sibling must remain enrolled at Thornlands SS in 2024 (the first year in which the new Prep student commences school).
Out of catchment families
Due to our enrolment capacity, we are a catchment managed school which leaves limited availibility for our of catchment enrolments. Please make contact with our office if you require further information.
Prep enrolment interviews
These are informal meetings that take place throughout Terms 2 and 3 for all 'In Catchment' and 'Out of Catchment' families, before we create classes for 2024. During these interviews the Pre-Prep students and parents will spend time with a Deputy Principal where you will be asked several questions relating to your child. Also, your child will be asked a few questions and encouraged to participate in a few activities. These interviews are a very important way for us to ensure we can best support your child's needs in their transition to school.
At Thornlands State School we run a Pre-Prep program called 'Leap into Prep' for future Prep students and their families. 'Leap into Prep' runs during Term 3 for 6 weeks from 9.15am to 10.45am beginning Tuesday 25 July and continues every Tuesday until 29 August. Find out more...
Enrolment packs can be collected from the school office.
