At Thornlands State School we run a Pre-Prep program called ‘Leap into Prep’ for future Prep students and their families. ‘Leap into Prep’ runs during Term 3 for six weeks from 9:15am to 10:45am beginning Tuesday 23 July and continues every Tuesday until 27 August 2024.
The ‘Leap into Prep’ program is designed to support your child with their transition into school. The program will provide children with activities to familiarise themselves with the teachers, classrooms and routines at Thornlands State School. This is a great opportunity for your child to become more familiar with the school environment and feel supported for the start of next year.
It allows students to feel comfortable in the school setting as well as meeting new friends before their first day of school. Parent workshops are delivered by outside agencies and school personnel on topics related to child readiness for school during this time. The program also provides our staff with an opportunity to learn about your child, their interests, how your child learns and provide positive experiences about school.
We encourage you to enrol your child in Prep as soon as possible. Once you have completed the enrolment pack, including all relevant documents listed on the enrolment pack checklist, and have submitted the application to the school office you are eligible to attend the ‘Leap into Prep’ program with your child.
