On the weekend of the 6th and 7th of November our school Touch Football Team competed in the annual QLD Primary All Schools Touch Carnival. There were over 160 teams entered from around South East Qld and as far afield as Dalby, Rockhampton and Toowoomba.

Thornlands entered into the mixed competition where we competed against 55 other teams. Thornlands competed in the pool games on the Saturday where we came out on top of our pool, earning us a spot in the top 16 in the Championship Shield competition on the Sunday.
Our first game on the Sunday was against Sacred Heart School who were similarly ranked to us in the top 16. I could not have been prouder of our team.  The determination, teamwork, spirt and guts demonstrated by each and every player throughout the game was a credit to them, especially in the very hot conditions. In the end we won this tight back and forth game 6-5. This win earnt us a spot in the quarter finals/ top 8. Our next game was against the Number 1 ranked team, St Anthony’s from North Rocky. We knew this team were well drilled and were going to be a challenge, and they certainly did not disappoint. Thornlands demonstrated that never give up attitude and under an onslaught of pressure from the Rocky team.  We held out many attempted scoring opportunities and also managed to score a few of our own. Unfortunately their skill and experience were too much for our team and we went down to them 11-3.
Thank you to all the parents for giving up their weekend and coming down to support the children in what was a fantastic weekend of Touch Football.
