CONGRATULATIONS THORNLANDS State School – A “Bright Spot School”
On 31 May we were informed of a significant achievement that our school has recently attained. This achievement has occurred as an outcome of all of the amazing work that happens here each and every day as all staff work together (regardless of their respective roles) to achieve the best we possibly can for all of our students.
The Education Improvement Branch (EIB) (the same branch who conduct the School Review process in schools) has identified Thornlands SS as one of 19 “bright spot” schools in the State. To explain this further the following is an extract from recent emails sent to us regarding this.
“In Term 4 each year, the Education Improvement Branch undertakes an annual performance assessment process involving the analysis of a range of data across Queensland state schools and meetings with leadership teams in each region.
Schools identified as “bright spots” demonstrate a strong trajectory of improvement across a range of school performance indicators.
The ‘bright spots’ initiative is an excellent opportunity to celebrate your school’s successes while also providing an opportunity for us to collectively learn more about school improvement across Queensland.
Next term, the Education Improvement Branch and State Schools – Performance will be co-hosting a forum to learn more about the practices and leadership elements that have contributed to your school’s improvement journey.

As I have already said everyone who works in this school shares in the outcomes we achieve for our students and so every one of our staff also shares this recognition and congratulations.
