At the end of Term 3, our Year 4 students took part in a Year Level Spelling Bee, battling it out in the search to find the 'Ultimate Year 4 Spelling Champion'.
By the end of our Quarter Finals, the pool of 100 students had been narrowed down to just four competitors. There could only be one winner and right from the start we knew the competition was going to be fierce but when all was said and done, it was Noah in 4R who was crowned our winner and was awarded the Winner's Cup. Congratulations Noah on your well-deserved win.
Huge congratulations must also go to Piper in 4B the recipient of the runner-up trophy and finally Angus and Ella in 4M our 3rd and 4th place medallion recipients.
Well done to all of our Year 4 students on all of your individual spelling achievements throughout the duration of the spelling bee.
The Year 4 students also recently took part in a Badminton unit for P.E. As a culminating element of fun at the end of the term, Mr Lovell held a badminton competition for the students - a chance to show off their newfound badminton skills. Congratulations to Jobe 4B who took out the win as well as Houzaifa 4R, Matilda 4L and Kortayze in 4M our runners-up.
We recently completed our first digital technologies unit of Lego-We-Do. Throughout the term, the students were immersed in building numerous functioning prototypes of different machines including race cars, snowploughs, gorillas and garbage trucks. For their assessment task, the students were asked to design and build a functioning prototype of a device that could be used to clean rubbish from our local waterways. This task was a great opportunity for the students to show off their Lego-We-Do building and coding skills and overall, the results from the students were exceptional. Below is a sample of some of the builds the students created.
