It has been wonderful to have students back in the library reading and borrowing books. If you still have books at home from last term could you please return them to the library as soon as possible. Please email email@example.com if you have any questions about current loans or missing books. There are lots of new books on display in our library ready to be read and borrowed this week so make sure you come in and have a look.
Last week students enjoyed listening to the story Whitney and Britney Chicken Divas by Lucinda Gifford as part of the annual National Simultaneous Storytime. Our school joined over one million children from Australia and New Zealand all reading the same book as part of this annual event.

Premier’s Reading Challenge
It is now time for the 2020 Premier’s Reading Challenge and we would love it this year if we could have the whole school involved.
The challenge is not a competition but aims to improve literacy and encourage children to read widely for pleasure and learning.
This year, the Premier has challenged all students from Prep to Year 2 to read or experience 20 books, Years 3 and 4 to read 20 books and Years 5 and 6 to read 15 books. Experiencing books can include shared reading, listening to stories, or reading picture books.
In recognition of their efforts, students who complete the challenge will receive a Certificate of Achievement signed by the Premier of Queensland. Students who participate but don’t complete the challenge will receive a Certificate of Participation from the school. These certificates will be presented during celebration weeks in November.
The PRC reading period commenced on Monday 11 May and closes Friday 28 August. It is not too late to join if you haven’t started yet. Download the parent note
(493KB) and the reader record
(418KB) form to get started or ask your child to visit the library to pick one up.
Ebooks Digital Library
It has been great to see so many students using the SORA app to borrow and read books online. The eBooks Digital Library is where all students have 24/7 access to eBooks and audio books. Notes were sent home at the beginning of the year with student login details. If you require more information or you are having any trouble logging in please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you to all of our wonderful student librarians who are back helping to keep the library running smoothly during lunch breaks. Your badges have now arrived and many students received these during their shift last week. Please see Mrs Connor in the library if you have not yet collected your badge.
