I’d like to welcome back all our Thornlands children. It was great to talk to children who said they enjoyed their PE online learning activities. We have been busy in our PE lessons leading up to the June/July holidays. Our Preps to Year 2’s are currently involved in a Perceptual Motor Program which you can see in the photos. The Year 3’s to 6’s have started participating in Track & Field lessons in the hope we will be able to hold our Senior Sports Day later in the year.

I have had a few emails from parents inquiring about sport for this term and the rest of the year. At this stage all school sport is on hold until the 30th June when Queensland School Sport will make a decision on all school representative sport. Once this has happened the roll-on effect will filter back down to schools. At this stage, District trials for Cross Country and Track and Field have been cancelled for 2020. Cluster Sports for 2020 has also been cancelled. Some of the other sports that tend to have their District Trials in the second half of the year may still go ahead, but until the June 30 announcement, this is only speculation at this stage.
As a school community we are hoping to be able to run our school Cross Country and Senior Sports Day later in the year as more restrictions are lifted, so watch this space.
Yours in Sport
Mr Tuni
