Premier's Reading Challenge 2020
Congratulations to all students who completed the Premier's Reading Challenge 2020! During the challenge older children were required to read fifteen books and younger children were required to read twenty. Thank you to all the parents and family members for supporting your child in completing this challenge. Certificates have now been handed out and students who completed the challenge enjoyed a lunchtime celebration in the library.

NAIDOC Week in the Library
This week we celebrated NAIDOC week in the library with displays, activities and reading lots of wonderful books written and illustrated by Indigenous Australians.

Scholastic Book Fair
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is being held this term during Week 8 (24 – 27 November) in the library. There will be a great range of books on offer for all levels and interests, and the school receives a percentage reward for books sold. Keep an eye out for book fair brochures coming home soon.
Due to COVID restrictions and parents not being able to enter the school grounds, the book fair will run a little differently this year. Photos will be taken of all books available in the book fair with prices included and posted on the school website and Facebook page the day before the fair. Students will then be invited to visit the Scholastic Book Fair before school from 8:30am, during both lunch breaks or with their class during library lessons if they would like to purchase a book. Parents can pre-pay online by visiting www.scholastic.com.au/payment or the correct amount of cash can be sent with your child in a zip lock bag or envelope with the amount written on the front.

Thank you to all our wonderful Student Librarians who have demonstrated such hard work and commitment all year helping to keep our busy library running smoothly. I am hoping to see many Year 5 students return to the role next year and wish all the Year 6 students the best of luck for the future. Please note that there will be no borrowing during the last three weeks of school. Please make sure that all books are returned to the library during Weeks 8 and 9.
Don't forget to visit your local library during the holidays to borrow some new books and join in with some of the school holiday activities. As a member of the Redlands Library you also have access to ebooks, audio books and magazines all online. The Story Box Library is another excellent resource that can be accessed for free with your Redlands Library membership. The Story Box Library is a place where children can view stories online by local authors and illustrators being read aloud by fantastic storytellers. https://storyboxlibrary.com.au/ Additionally if you are not a member of the Redlands Library you can access books online via the Education Queensland SORA reading app where students have 24/7 online access to eBooks and audio books. All you need to do is download the Sora app or visit https://soraapp.com then find the school 'Education Queensland' and enter your MIS ID to login.
