Prep 2021 Enrolments.
We are now taking enrolments for Prep 2021 and positions are filling fast. If you have a child born between 1 July 2015 and 30 June 2016, they will be eligible to enrol in Prep for 2021 and it would be advisable to begin the enrolment process now. If you have friends or neighbours with a child born within this time period, please pass the enrolment message on to them. Families living out of catchment are more than welcome to complete an enrolment form and submit this to the office.
Parents will be notified by the end of Term 3 if the enrolment application has been successful.
Please call the school office on 3821 8111 to organise this.

Crossing the Road Before and After School
Parents are reminded that the school has two pedestrian crossings.  One is located on South Street and the other is located on Panorama Drive.  Both the pedestrian crossings are manned by a crossing supervisor ensuring these crossings are a safe place for both children and adults to cross the road.  Please use the pedestrian crossings provided and in doing so you will be reinforcing road safety rules with your children.

New Thornlands State School Student Code of Conduct
All Queensland State Schools are currently in the process of writing a new Student Code of Conduct ready for implementation in 2021.  This new document will replace our school’s Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students, currently available on our website.  Similar to the Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students, the new Student Code of Conduct is designed to facilitate high standards of behaviour ensuring the teaching and learning in our school is prioritised and all children are able to learn in a safe and supportive learning environment. As part of this update, we are reviewing our behaviour policies. If you have any feedback relating to our current Responsible Behaviour Plan for Students, please email:

Helping your child to be responsible
Now is a great time to double check that your child has everything they need to learn and labels haven’t worn or fallen off jumpers and hats.  The lost property box is full of black jumpers without names!  Thank you to all families for your support in ensuring your children are in the correct uniform, including a black jumper and shoes and arriving on time ready to learn.
At this time of the year, it can be reasonable to expect that items such as pencils, erasers, sharpeners and rulers may need replacing.  This ensures your child can focus on their learning rather than missing valuable teaching time whilst they search for a pencil to write with or an eraser to remove a mistake.  We thank you for your support in this matter.
