Thornlands State School has successfully provided intervention to support literacy skills for students from Year 2 to Year 6 during the last four years using the Fast ForWord Program.

Fast ForWord is an evidence based computer program that was developed by neuroscientists and has been shown to facilitate significant improvements in essential cognitive skills such as auditory processing, working memory, concentration and focus, phonemic awareness, language and literacy skills.

Students chosen to participate in the program are assessed to obtain an individualised baseline. Each student’s statistical data is closely monitored and assistance is provided by a member of the Thornlands State School staff.

Four training sessions will be held weekly at school, three before school 8:00 to 8:45 and one during school time. Training is also available to complete at home. The cost for the 24 week program commencing 2 May to 13 October, is $400.

Please note there are a limited number of places available in our 2017 Fast ForWord Program, half of these spaces are already full. Participation in Fast ForWord is available privately through Sonic Learning and students train only at home. The cost to do this is $1260.
